NEWNAN: Georgia to open new state park

NEWNAN, Ga. -- Georgia is about to get a new state park.

When Chattahoochee Bend State Park opens next Friday, it will become Georgia's first new state park since Tallulah Gorge State Park opened in 1993.

The 2,910-acre park in northwest Coweta County will feature four miles of wooded trails, seven miles of river, and a half-mile hike to an observation platform with forest and river views.

It will also offer RV and trailer camping sites, riverfront platform sites and walk-in sites for tent campers. Organized groups can rent a private area with screened shelters and a fire pit.
