NEWNAN: Tyler Perry gives great grandmother house
NEWNAN, Ga. -- You only have to see his movies to know grandmothers, especially gun-toting ones, are close to Tyler Perry's heart.
On Friday Tyler Perry turned over the keys and the deed to a brand new home to 88-year-old Rosa Lee Ransby and the seven grandchildren she raises.
Days before Christmas in 2010, her home burned to the ground. She and her great granddaughter escaped. The Newnan Fire Department turned to the community for donations to take care of the woman who was taking care of so many children.
Then, as if by a Christmas miracle, Atlanta TV and movie mogul Tyler Perry put Ransby and her whole family up in a rental house, that is until he could rebuild her entire home on the site it had burned down.
Perry was watching the news, thought of his own mother who died in 2009 and was moved.
