The line of storms reached the Atlanta area early Wednesday morning. It brought heavy rain, lightning and thunder to the pre-dawn hours. Pea-sized hail was possible along with gusty winds, 11Alive Meteorologist Chesley McNeil said.
Heavy fog also complicated the morning commute, bringing visibility levels down to less than one mile, McNeil said.
McNeil said the rain would taper off late Wednesday morning. Scattered showers could be expected across north Georgia through the afternoon and evening hours.
Scattered showers are expected through Friday, but will clear in time for the weekend, according to 11Alive's five-day forecast.
