32 people homeless after Newnan apartment fire

NEWNAN, Ga. -- The Red Cross is assisting 32 people after a fire at their apartment complex Thursday morning in Newnan.

It happened at at the Jefferson Pointe Apartments on Jefferson Parkway.

"Even though the area is still recovering from the recent snowstorm, the American Red Cross is on the job to help people in the face of emergencies," said Jessica McFadden, disaster program manager. "There were nine apartments that were totally destroyed. We are very thankful that everyone made it out safely."

The Red Cross took care of their immediate emergency needs by providing financial assistance for food and clothing as well as a hotel accommodations to nineteen adults and thirteen children. 

No word on what caused the fire at this point.
