The holidays are over -- and so is the roadwork hiatus

(WXIA) -- Now that the holidays are winding down, the Georgia Department of Transportation is resuming the road projects it began last year.

Major work will be performed in the HOV lanes on Interstate 85 in both directions between the Clairmont and Lenox/Cheshire Bridge interchanges.

The HOV lanes and their adjacent lanes will be closed continuously from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The inside shoulders of I-85 in the same area will also be closed continuously through Friday, Feb. 7.

Work will also continue on the bridge of the Buford-Spring Connector in Atlanta. One inside lane will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Drivers traveling into or out of Atlanta are asked to use extreme caution when moving through these areas.
