COWETA COUNTY, Ga. -- Two people were killed after a small plane crashed in Coweta County Saturday night.

The plane, a Cessna 150, crashed in Senoia near the intersection of Highway 85 and Highway 74. It took off from Falcon Field in Peachtree City early Saturday and was headed toward Eagle Neck Airport in Shellman Bluff, Georgia. Two men died in the crash, 11Alive's Jeremy Campbell reports.

When the plane did not arrive, the family alerted authorities. Coweta County notified the FAA at around 8 p.m. Saturday that the crash was discovered and cordoned off.

The appeared to have attempted an emergency landing.

The FAA and NTSB will begin the investigation into the cause of the crash Sunday morning.
