City of Newnan Lauches Mobile App to All Citizens

NEWNAN – (submitted by the City of Newnan) The City of Newnan, Georgia has partnered with SeeClickFix to improve communication between the citizens and their government and also to provide citizens the opportunity to report issues in their neighborhoods quickly and efficiently. Issues or concerns can be reported through any Android, Blackberry or iPhone or citizens can visit the City of Newnan?s website: http://ci.newnan.ga.us/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,159/.

SeeClickFix also provides a widget to be embedded in local news sites for citizens to have an additional outlet where they can report issues or concerns. We have already partnered with nearly 700 online local news sites to help make the process of reporting local issues such as potholes, graffiti or traffic safety simple and prompt.

NEWNAN – (Newnan Cultural Arts Commission) Tickets for the March 19th, Wadsworth & Friends Concert, are now on sale.  

Tickets for the concert are available at Scott’s Book Store on the Courthouse Square, Morgans Jewelers at Ashley Park, and Bank of Coweta at Thomas Crossroads

Although the revenue from ticket sales alone continues to fall below the actual concert costs, over the years, the cost of tickets have remained unchanged.

The economically priced tickets wouldn’t be possible without the annual support from Concert Patrons and Sponsors who continue to understand the value of bringing this special event to Newnan and, as a result of their support, make it available to a wide audience; for information regarding the concert’s Patron and Sponsor programs contact J. Kaiser Permanente Celebrates the Grand Opening of Its Newnan Medical Office

ATLANTA – (Kaiser Permanente) On Thursday, February 17, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia will celebrate the grand opening of its Newnan Medical Office, the organization’s first location in Coweta County. The addition of the new 7,100 square foot facility at 203 Newnan Crossing Bypass is part of Kaiser Permanente’s ongoing effort to make access to health care more convenient for its more than 240,000 members across metro Atlanta.

Kaiser Permanente invested $2.3 million in interior construction, furniture, and medical and IT equipment for the Newnan Medical Office to create a unique total health environment that nurtures the mind, body and spirit in sickness and in health. “This medical office will allow us to better serve our members in and around Newnan,” explained Peter Andruszkiewicz, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Announces Missy Dugan as Interim President & CPO

ATLANTA – (BGCMA) Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA), a non-profit focused on youth development for metro Atlanta children, today announced Missy Dugan as the Interim President and Chief Professional Officer (CPO). Dugan will succeed William Lampley, who recently resigned as President and CPO.

Dugan was most recently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for BGCMA, where she managed organization operations for 26 Clubs. She also served in the role of Vice President of Development and Marketing for BGCMA and has been with the organization more than four years. Dugan has experience in operations, marketing and development through her years of work in the Boys & Girls Clubs organization.

Author & Early Childhood Education Expert Launches 2nd Edition of National Preschool Curriculum

In July 2008, Author & Early Learning Expert, Dr. Bisa Batten Lewis, known as Dr. Bisa, made good on her declaration to produce an affordable preschool curriculum that meets national standards. In January 2011, WINGS: The Ideal Curriculum for Children in Preschool, 2nd edition, will be available, along with five  sets of supporting materials for infants, toddlers, preschoolers/pre-k, family/group child care, and after-school programs. The updated WINGS Curriculum Parent Handbook includes new information on play and learning, along with more resources and forms to support home-learning.

Third Annual Greener Greater Newnan Festival, November 6th

Performance Learning Center (PLC) students are preparing the third annual Greener Greater Newnan Festival on Saturday, November 6th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greenville Street Park in downtown Newnan. PLC hosts the festival to help people reduce their carbon footprint by supplying them with information and tools.

The festival will spark a movement which will help enhance the quality of the city of Newnan. Greener Greater Newnan is funded by various sponsors with green initiatives. Local youth groups will also attend and send messages to the community in the form of videos and artwork as part of a contest called “Speak Green”. Greener Greater Newnan will also feature the return of the exciting and enjoyable Recycle Man.

Performance Learning Center is a program sponsored by the Coweta County School System and started by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Free Yoga at the Carnegie

Relax and free your mind at The Carnegie with a family yoga class led by Elizabeth Dorsey and Yvette Monet.  All ages are welcomed but a family is not required to participate. 

Instructor Elizabeth Dorsey, RYT-200, is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance. And Instructor Yvette Monet has been practicing and teaching yoga for 35 years. 

Please wear comfortable clothing, mats will be provided.  The program will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 11:00 a.m.  Please call 770-683-1347 to reserve your spot.
