Monkey Joe's to raise money for Tripp Halstead

ATLANTA -- Several Monkey Joe's locations in Georgia will host an event to raise money for Tripp Halstead's family.

Jump for Tripp will be held all day on Sunday, May 19. Ten percent of sales will benefit the family of the 2 year old, who was hit by a falling tree branch at his daycare center last October.

ATLANTA -- Coweta County's favorite son will return to his home state for a concert later this month.

Country music superstar Alan Jackson will perform at Chastain Park Amphitheater on Friday, Apr. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Jackson has sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide and recorded 35 #1 singles, including "Chattahoochee," the 1993 ode to metro Atlanta's most famous river.

Newnan-Coweta Chamber to host health care forum

NEWNAN, Ga. -- The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce will host an interactive discussion about upcoming changes to the country's health care system.

"Health Care Reform: Be Prepared -- What Employers Need to Know for 2014" will be held Friday, Apr. 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Discussion topics include health care tax credits, employer compliance, essential plan designs and shared responsibility provisions. Refreshments will be provided.

The meeting will be held at the Newnan Utilities Wahoo Creek Facility. It is free, but reservations are required; visit newnancowetachamber.org to sign up.

UWG gala to honor notable alumni

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The University of West Georgia will hold its 2013 Alumni Association Awards Gala on Saturday, Apr. 20.

The gala, "An Evening with the Stars," will be at the school's Townsend Center for Performing Arts. The evening begins with a 6 p.m. reception, followed by a 7 p.m. ceremony.

This year's honorees include Dr. Laurie N. Barron ('99), principal of Smokey Road Middle School in Newnan; UWG Director of the Center for Public History Dr. Keith Hébert ('98); GlendonTodd Capital investor and operating partner John Harris ('71, '73); and former NASA mathematician Jimmy Akin ('64).

'Romeo and Juliet' coming to The Centre

NEWNAN, Ga. -- Coweta County's Centre for Performing & Visual Arts will host a production of Romeo and Juliet next month.

The National Players, the longest-running touring company in the U.S., will perform Shakespeare's classic tale of star-crossed lovers on Thursday, Apr. 11 at 7 p.m.

Coke partners with Firehouse Subs for national contest

ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola and Firehouse Subs are partnering for a national sweepstakes centered on stock car racing.

Coca-Cola is sponsoring the Coca-Cola Photo Finish sweepstakes at Firehouse Subs locations through Apr. 21.

During the contest, life-size cutouts of participating Coca-Cola Racing Family members will be placed in FIrehouse Subs locations. Firehouse Subs guests can snap a photo with the cutout and submit it to win. Guests can submit photos via text to cocacolaphotofinish.com, or entries can be mailed.

Participating drivers include Joey Logano, representing the Georgia and Gulf region; Greg Biffle, representing the West and Central region; Danica Patrick, representing the Florida region; Denny Hamlin, representing the South region; and Tony Stewart, representing the Mid-Atlantic region.
