Anonymous tip leads to arrest of arson suspect | Crime
NEWNAN, Ga. -- Police have arrested a man accused of setting several fires in downtown Newnan.
A call to the Newnan Police Department's anonymous tip line led investigators to arrest Willie Claude Mack. City spokeswoman Gina Snider said Mack was convicted on four counts.
Ten vacant homes on the southeast side of downtown Newnan were set ablaze between October 2011 and April 2012, Snider said.
"We are extremely grateful for the assistance of the individuals who have utilized the anonymous tip line to provide information regarding these fire," Newnan Fire Marshal Tim Cox said in a statement. "Their information has been extraordinarily helpful in furthering the investigation to this point, and we strongly encourage anyone with additional information to call this hotline."
