BJ’s Wholesale to Host Holiday Food Drive in East Point and Newnan

Atlanta - BJ’s Wholesale Club is making it easy to spread holiday spirit this holiday season by inviting the community to participate in the BJ’s Holiday Food Drive to benefit area food banks.

What:              BJ’s Wholesale Club Holiday Food Drive invites the public to donate non-perishable, non-glass food items to benefit local Feeding America food banks and help ensure those in need receive well-balanced, nutritious meals this holiday season.

 

When:              November 28 through December 12, 2011

Where:            All BJ’s Wholesale Clubs Nationwide.

NEWNAN, Ga. -- The National Infantry Museum in Columbus, Ga. is considered one of the country's greatest tributes to those who served.

Now, veterans living in Atlanta's southern suburbs have an opportunity to visit this moving testament to the proud servicemen and women who work to keep the country safe.

On Friday, Nov. 11 -- Veterans Day -- the Honor Bus Tour will roll into Coweta County to pick up local veterans and drive them to Columbus to see the museum. This free ride for Newnan and Peachtree City residents includes lunch and a tour.

The Honor Bus will leave from SonRise Baptist Church at 8 a.m. Friday and will return at around 5 p.m.

ATLANTA -- Applebee's expects to serve more than one million free meals to veterans and active duty military this Veterans Day.

This is the third year in a row that the Kansas City, Mo.-based chain restaurant has held its Thank You Movement to show appreciation for the brave men and women who serve our country.

And part of that movement includes allowing members of the military to eat for free on Friday, Nov. 11.

Active duty military members and veterans can receive their free food from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Veterans Day: Boys & Girls Clubs of America Marks 20 Years of Serving Children of U.S. Military

Worldwide Programs Now Serving 460,000 Youth in 15 Countries

 

For 20 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.bgca.org) has been providing the children of American military families’ vital services and programs – wherever they are stationed around the world.  Since 1991, children have had access to on-base Youth Centers that offer the same guidance and proven programs - focusing on academic success, good character and citizenship and healthy living - provided by traditional Boys & Girls Clubs across the United States.

 

“Children of military families face more than the usual challenges of growing up, from moving and re-establishing friendships every few years to worrying about family members who have been deployed,” says Terrill Wicks, vice president, Military Services & International Projects for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
