Centre Strings rehearsals begin Sept. 10

Centre Strings rehearsals begin Sept. 10

NEWNAN, Ga. -- Centre Strings, Coweta County's student/community orchestra, will begin rehearsals next month.

The orchestra holds no formal auditions and is open to anyone who has played a string instrument for at least two years.

Rehearsals are held Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the county's Central Education Center. The first one will be Sept. 10.

This year marks Centre Strings' eighth season.

"It promises to be a lively season," conductor Dr. Lyn Schenbeck said in a statement. "If someone plays an orchestral instrument, I hope they would consider joining Centre Strings. I am certain they will enjoy the warmth and camaraderie of the orchestra while maintaining high standards of musical excellence."

"Centre Strings was built on the premise that music should not be competitive," Schenbeck added. "With the exception of the concertmaster's named chair, none of the seats are auditioned. They are rotated throughout the season."
