"Concerned Citizen" to create emergency response team

"Concerned Citizen" to create emergency response team

ATLANTA – At a recent City Council meeting, Norma Hayes, a self proclaimed “concerned citizen” voiced her complaints about the slow and sometimes non-existent response, to victims of emergencies, from the American Red Cross’ Georgia Three Rivers Chapter.

In response to the Red Cross’ supposed dysfunction, Haynes and other citizens like herself are in the process of forming a Community Emergency Response Team that would educate citizens about disaster preparedness so they would be able to deploy during disaster events.

Haynes thinks this team would be helpful because the Newnan community has been cursed with a series of unfortunate weather conditions and many families in the area don’t have insurance. And she hopes to, one day, gain the support of city officials to make it an actual organization.
