NEWNAN, Ga. -- Piedmont Newnan Hospital’s final Walk With a Doc of 2014 will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Carl Miller park, 70 Sewell Road in Newnan. Any member of the Coweta County community is invited to join up with other walkers for an hour of fun and fitness.

Andrew Darlington, D.O., a cardiologist, will lead the walk. Dr. Darlington is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and Cardiomyopathy. Dr. Darlington has a special interest in Congestive Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy.

Walkers are encouraged to gather at the main pavilion in Carl Miller Park by 8:15 a.m. as the walk begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Dr. Darlington will take about five minutes to talk about heart health before leading all on a walk through the park while answering questions from participants.

Participants will receive a free water bottle, pedometer and T-shirt. While the event is free, registration is requested by calling 877-527-3712 or visiting piedmont.org/walkwithadoc. Registration will also be available on site starting at 8 a.m.

Piedmont launched Walk With a Doc after their health needs assessment showed that one in four adults in Coweta County is physically inactive and nearly one in three is considered obese. The walks not only encourage physical fitness, but they give participants one-on-one time with a physician.
